It is our incredibly sad duty to report that it was announced earlier this evening that Ozzy Osbourne, founding member of Black Sabbath and heavy metal icon, passed away early this morning (July 22nd 2025).
A short statement from The Osbourne Family was posted on Ozzy’s social media at approximately 7:30pm UK time, which read:
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.
We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.
Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis”.
Ozzy’s passing comes just a couple of weeks after his triumphant farewell concert, Back To The Beginning, where he performed both a solo set and with the original line up of Black Sabbath at Villa Park in his home city of Birmingham in the UK. The weekend after Back To The Beginning, Ozzy, along with his wife Sharon and children Kelly and Jack were meeting fans at Comic Con in Birmingham, with fans paying the uniquely appropriate price of £666 for the opportunity to meet Ozzy, dubbed The Prince Of Darkness by some of his long time fans.
As many will know, Ozzy was suffering from the degenerative effects of Parkinson’s disease, one of the reasons behind the Parkinson’s UK charity being one of the beneficiaries of Back To The Beginning. The show has raised over £180 million for charity – with the beneficiaries being Parkinson’s UK, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Hospice.
Everyone here at Rock Sins sends our deepest condolences to The Osbourne family, and all of Ozzy’s friends and band mates and his legions of fans around the world. In the words of a documentary made about Ozzy by his son Jack – God Bless Ozzy Osbourne.
